'Caramel Antique' Dahlia Tuber
'Caramel Antique' Dahlia Tuber
A smaller (4-5”) bloom with excellent form, in a subtle, glowy ivory or a cream white with a touch of pale golden-tan in the center. In my garden they are normally ivory. Very floriferous, vigorously growing plants which for me stay on the shorter side, just with long flower stems. Interestingly, the plants and blooms seem slightly more resistant to light frost than most dahlia varieties. A really good tuber producer. Tubers do tend to be on the thin and tender side and only some of them have eyes, so storage can be more iffy and fewer viable tubers are produced by each plant, thus the higher price.
PLEASE NOTE: I have noticed that this variety often has many eyes per crown of even a single small tuber. This is not a sign of disease! (I am well aware what gall and other dahlia diseases look like). I believe it’s another indication of this variety’s great vigor.
